About

Our Vision

Ekaki Noye (“You’re not alone”), was founded by Advocate Ramyani Ghoshal, to fulfil her lifelong mission of bringing people together and providing them with a safe space to communicate and seek help. Our team envisages a platform where each and every voice is heard, it seeks to create a community of volunteers that seeks out to the mentally battered by providing them with legal aid as well as professional help for mental turmoils.

A platform for Senior citizens

  • We serve senior citizens who are despite their old age tortured physically or mentally by family members. Noticing the lacunae of platforms that serve and shelter senior citizens, Ekaki Noye was founded with the conviction that even though shunned by their own children, our senior citizens are not alone, they will be heard.
  • We facilitate telephonic conversations between senior citizens and our volunteers who take note of their problems and help them by either mediating out of court or if necessary with legal proceedings charging only a nominal amount.
  • Taking due note of the debilitating effect that loneliness has on senior citizens we also offer counselling sessions by professionals. Further, we conduct interactive events like indoor games, beauty pageants and cultural programmes to engage and entertain senior citizens.
  • Additionally, our volunteers provide other services like running errands for senior citizens and keeping them company.

A platform for the mentally or physically battered

As an advocate, Ms Ghoshal has dealt with several cases of

  • domestic violence
  • sexual abuse and rape.
  • working in her field she has also noticed that though rarely, even men face abuse and violence which they find difficult to share due to social stigma. Realizing the deep imprint such offences make and the violent effect it has on the mental health of victims, our team at Ekaki Noye takes up cases of domestic violence, abuse, sexual assault and rape by collaborating with psychologists.
  • Our volunteers take note of the issues through telephonic conversations and redirect the call to legal professionals, simultaneously our platform also connects victims with psychologists who then provide them with mental counselling.

Remuneration

  • This service is provided free of charge to all women and children under 21 years of age.
  • Above the age of 21, we charge Rs.250 for counselling
